This is the 91st Surah of the Qur’an. It has 15 short verses. Human beings are endowed with a NAFS = ‘Self’ termed differently as Soul, Personality, Ego, I-am-ness, I, Me, etc. This NAFS is in a 'raw' form when we are born and it is up to us to refine it, and develop it. The body is only a vehicle to bring to use our will or ‘self’. The person who has primed his own ‘self’ by living according to Permanent Values, becomes a candidate for true Immortality and Paradise in the Hereafter.
Whereas he who fails to prime his own ‘self’ this way, can only be a candidate for mere survival which the Qur’an terms as SAQAR. A life of fire that neither lets live, nor lets die. The fire of regret, anguish and despair. No further evolution is possible for such a ‘self’ - a mere existence of stagnation. That is what Hell is with unrelenting grief and regret on having wasted the great opportunity in the short worldly life.

In its deepest sense, man's ability to act wrongly is a concomitant to his ability to act rightly: in other words, it is this inherent polarity of tendencies which gives to every "right" choice a value and, thus, endows man with moral free will (cf. in this connection note 16 on 7:24).

وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ ۖ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً ۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
আৰু ছামূদ জাতিৰ ওচৰত সিহঁতৰ ভাতৃ ছলেহক প্ৰেৰণ কৰিছিলো। তেওঁ কৈছিল, ‘হে মোৰ সম্প্ৰদায়! তোমালোকে কেৱল আল্লাহৰ ইবাদত কৰা। তেওঁৰ বাহিৰে তোমালোকৰ আন কোনো সত্য ইলাহ নাই। নিশ্চয় তোমালোকৰ ওচৰত তোমালোকৰ প্ৰতিপালকৰ তৰফৰ পৰা স্পষ্ট নিদৰ্শন আহিছে। এইজনী আল্লাহৰ উট, তোমালোকৰ বাবে নিদৰ্শনস্বৰূপ। এতেকে তোমালোকে ইয়াক আল্লাহৰ পৃথিৱীত চৰি ফুৰি খাবলৈ দিয়া আৰু তাইক কোনো ধৰণৰ কষ্ট নিদিবা, অন্যথা যন্ত্ৰণাদায়ক শাস্তিয়ে তোমালোকক আবৰি ধৰিব’।

قَالَ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةٌ لَهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ
তেওঁ ক’লে, ‘এইজনী হৈছে (নিদৰ্শনীয়) উট, ইয়াৰ বাবে আছে পানী খোৱাৰ পাল, আৰু তোমালোকৰ বাবেও আছে এটা নিৰ্ধাৰিত দিনত পানী খোৱাৰ পাল।)

কিন্তু সিহঁতে অস্বীকাৰ*1 কৰিলে আৰু উটজনীক*2 বধ কৰিলে। ফলত সিহঁতৰ পাপৰ*3(بِذَنْبِهِمْ) বাবে সিহঁতৰ প্ৰতিপালকে সিহঁতক সমূলে ধ্বংস কৰি একাকাৰ কৰি দিলে।

فَعَقَرُوا النَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
তাৰ পিছত সিহঁতে সেই উটজনীক হত্যা কৰিলে আৰু আল্লাহৰ আদেশ অমান্য কৰিলে আৰু ক’লে, ‘হে ছলেহ! যদি তুমি (সঁচাই) ৰাছুলসকলৰ অন্তৰ্ভুক্ত তেন্তে তুমি আমাক যিটোৰ ভয় দেখুৱাইছা সেয়া লৈ আহা’।

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ
তাৰ পিছত ভূমিকম্পই সিহঁতক আক্ৰান্ত কৰিলে, ফলত সিহঁতে নিজ নিজ ঘৰতে উবুৰি খাই পৰি (মৰি) থাকিল।)

It may seem harsh that killing a camel due to lack of discipline can lead to God's retribution,
but we don't know the true reasoning behind this decree. However, even in modern times many
species are protected and cannot be killed or captured. Killing any of the protected animals, birds
or their eggs can result in prosecution and conviction of a serious offence that could mean
imprisonment or at the least a criminal record. In Africa, armed rangers patrol reservations to stop
poaching, any ensuing battle to protect the animals can mean death for poachers or rangers alike.

وَيَا قَوْمِ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ قَرِيبٌ
‘হে মোৰ সম্প্ৰদায়! এইজনী আল্লাহৰ উট, তোমালোকৰ বাবে নিদৰ্শনস্বৰূপ। এতেকে ইয়াক আল্লাহৰ ভূমিত চৰি খাবলৈ দিয়া। ইয়াক কোনো ধৰণৰ কষ্ট নিদিবা, অন্যথা আশু শাস্তিয়ে তোমালোকক আক্ৰান্ত কৰিব’।)

[91:2] and (Wa) the moon (El'Qamari) when (Izaa) it follows (Talaa-ha),
[91:3] and (Wa) the day (En'Nahaari) when (Izaa) it reveals (Jallaa-ha), (92:2)
[91:4] and (Wa) the night (Ellai'li) when (Izaa) it covers (Yag'shaa-ha), (92:1)
[91:5] and (Wa) the sky (Es'Samaai) and what (Maa) constructs it (Banaa-ha),
[91:6] and (Wa) the earth (El'Ar'di) and what (Maa) topples it (Tohaa-ha),
[91:7] and (Wa) the soul (Naf'sin) and what (Maa) organized it (Sawwaa-ha)
[91:8] and (Fa) inspired it (Al'hama-haa)
with its immorality (Fujuura-haa) and (Wa) its piousness (Taq'waa-ha);
[91:9] whoever (Man) purifies it (Zakkaa-ha) has (Qad) succeeded (Af'laha),
[91:10] and (Wa) whoever (Man) inflicts it (Dassaa-ha) has (Qad') failed (Khaaba).
[91:11] Thamud (Thamuudu) denied (Kazzabat) with (Bi) their transgression (Tog'waa-haa),
[91:12] when (Izi) the most distressed thereof (Ash'qaa-ha) was sent (En'baåtha);
[91:13] and (Fa) the messenger of GOD (Shelah) (Rasuulu-llahi) said to them (Qaala Lahum), "It is the she-camel of GOD (17:59) (Naaqata-llahi) and (Wa) its water supply (Suq'yaa-ha)."
[91:14] But (Fa) they denied him (Kazzabuu-hu) and (Fa) butchered her (Åqaruu-haa). So (Fa) their LORD
(Rabbu-hum) finished them up (Dam'dama Ålai'him) for (Bi) their sin (Zanbi-him’) and (Fa) settled it (Sawwaa-ha);
[91:15] for (Wa) they did not (Laa) fear (Yakhaafu) its consequence (Uq'baa-ha).
